As the country is waking up to the installation of Fascist architecture all around us (Flock cameras, data centers), we are reacting with understandable anger. We certainly didn’t vote on this. It was foisted on us…and that rarely works in America. The authoritarian companies (and Flock is not the only one, just the most visible) … Read more
Jesus! It says it right there in the second paragraph of our founding document. “…that whenever any government becomes destructive of those Ends [and while I don’t know why they capitalized Ends, I do know that the Ends are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, by the consent of the governed], it is the … Read more
The irony of what has happened with the reflecting pool in Washington screams for expression. The reflecting pool originally reflected the spire dedicated to our first president reminding us of the beginnings of our great experiment in Democracy. Now it reflects one deranged man. Recently the bottom was painted with blue paint with disastrous results. … Read more
Change the Language and Everybody Will Believe You and Agitate for Violence Violence is a slippery slope. When slogans are strategically used to stir up righteous indignation and justifiable violent solutions we know we are sliding down into outright fascism. “Narcoterrorists” is a brilliant propaganda word. It conjures images of real terrorists who set bombs … Read more
As tends to happen in autocratic countries, America is now, clearly, in a Government versus the People situation. I wish it weren’t so, but it is. Guiteau after serving only three months in office. Guiteau worshiped Garfield with a devotion and fervor that disturbed me. He was clearly a fanatic, seeing him as the savior of … Read more
Before a decade ago, America had gotten so unbelievably complacent. We all figured that, generally speaking, things were going pretty well and the problems were fixable glitches in the system or human error. My how things have changed recently. Democracy is inherently fragile, and the only reasonable conclusion is that, until recently, America actually had … Read more
As loath as I am to admit that either national political party has gotten anything right lately, the Democratic Party was right about Trump’s being a Fascist, wanna-be dictator. It’s harder and harder to deny that every day, which is one of the main reasons his supporters are ditching him faster than rats off the … Read more
The Ongoing Quest to Figure out Donald John Trump (Part II) First off, sorry to write yet another article about Trump. Lord knows, the world doesn’t need more ink spilled about him, but damn, he just takes up so much American head space that it’s hard not to think about him. Like your high school … Read more
