Dangerous Slogans

Change the Language and Everybody Will Believe You and Agitate for Violence

Violence is a slippery slope. When slogans are strategically used to stir up righteous indignation and justifiable violent solutions we know we are sliding down into outright fascism.

“Narcoterrorists” is a brilliant propaganda word. It conjures images of real terrorists who set bombs and blow up neighborhoods when you least expect it. The solution? Kill them before they kill us. And you can pat yourself on the back for striking back in self defense. For protecting the country.

Woven in is congratulations to a “great leader” who is finally “doing something” about the drug problem by direct violent action that wimpy past leaders would not do. Hooray for hypermasculinity. Sound familiar? It should.

Bad enough but the latest slogan should send chills down your spine. “Drugs are Weapons of Mass Destruction.” In the MAGA brain this brings on a little thrill: “Wow what an original idea. Brilliant. I never thought of that myself. We are being governed by some really sharp people who can think out of the box to save us.”

But wait. This is coming from a man who said, “We have weapons of mass destruction. Why don’t we use them?”

Let’s just hope the need for adoration trumps the thirst for brutality and they lie and say fentanyl is all gone, followed by “We deserve a Nobel Peace Prize.”
