In The Long Term, We’re Going To Be Thankful That Trump Is So Terrible

Before a decade ago, America had gotten so unbelievably complacent. We all figured that, generally speaking, things were going pretty well and the problems were fixable glitches in the system or human error. My how things have changed recently.

Democracy is inherently fragile, and the only reasonable conclusion is that, until recently, America actually had some statesmen, not just politicians. While we’re clearly only in early-stage Fascism, it’s still Fascism, it’s still evil.

Assuming we can pull ourselves out of this mess, and I think we can and will, we will then know how fragile it really is and how important the checks and balances truly are. It’s going to take longer to reshape the Supreme Court, but without the Trump of it all, the Supreme Court won’t be able to shred our liberty and bruise our sacred honor, at least not as quickly. image

We’re going to be happy that we have this warning, this set of red flags…but it’s going to take a while for that long-awaited exhale, that moment when our long national nightmare is finally over.
